AUSTIN – Texas is America’s Top State for Business, according to a CNBC study that scored each state based on 40 different measures of competitiveness. 

“This designation reinforces the fact that the Lone Star State is the best state in the nation to live, work and raise a family thanks to our low taxes, reasonable and predictable regulations and skilled workforce,” Gov. Perry said. “These policies have helped keep our economy comparatively strong through the national economic downturn, and will continue to make us globally competitive in the future.”

Copperas Cove and Fort Hood Land Exchange Final

Copperas Cove and Fort Hood Land Exchange FinalDuring a press conference held June 1st 2010, the Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) announced that the land exchange with Fort Hood is complete. 

The approximately 125-acre property is situated on the south side of Highway 190, at the southeast entry of Copperas Cove, near Walmart. In exchange, Fort Hood received nearly 110 acres of land located at Clear Creek and Ammo Road along Mohawk Drive at West Fort Hood. Acquiring this piece of land assists Fort Hood in the future encroachment adjacent to Robert Gray Army Airfield.

4th Annual Fort Hood Economic Region Conference

Fort Hood Economic RegionThe 4th Annual Economic Outlook Conference hosted by the Fort Hood Economic Region (FHER) was well attended on Wednesday, May 12, 2010.  The purpose of the conference was to better acquaint community leaders with the shifts that are occurring in regional, state, national and global economies.  Invited guests included community leaders, business leaders, school administrators and economic developers.

Boots stay on the ground in Central Texas

Heart of Texas Defense AllianceKILLEEN - A survey published by the Heart of Texas Defense Alliance shows that 31.6 percent of soldiers completing service at Fort Hood would prefer to stay in the area.

The area is defined as anywhere within 30 miles of Fort Hood.

Copperas Cove receives preliminary deed in Fort Hood Land Swap

After months of playing the waiting game, Copperas Cove has the preliminary deed for more than 120 acres of land for future expansion.

The land gained in a swap with Fort Hood will be used for the 1.15 million-square-foot open-air shopping mall Shops at Five Hills on the east end of the city.
