Copperas Coves most valuable asset is the availability of a well-educated, highly skilled workforce with a strong work ethic. Approximately 1,000 highly disciplined personnel exit from Fort Hood each month and enter the workforce. Additionally, there is an abundance of underemployed military
family members ready and willing to work.
The Central Texas
Economic Corridor, a regional marketing group of which the
Copperas Cove EDC is a part, along with the Central Texas
Workforce Center has contracted with
Economic Development Services, a consulting firm, to conduct
a labor study.
The data
collected in the surveys display many characteristics of the
work force defined as anyone willing and able to work
between the ages of 16 and 75. This data is for Bell and
Coryell counties; Copperas Cove is located in Coryell
county.
The
analysis of the Central Texas labor force leads to several
conclusions:
-
The
area has a relatively young, skilled and educated labor
pool.
-
The
area has a tremendous supply of available part-time and
shift labor.
-
The
majority will work for under $11 per hour.
